Tagua seeds, sometimes referred to as vegetable ivory, are gathered from the fruit of the Phytelephas palm in the humid tropical rainforests of Ecuador and other parts of South America.
It is a dream material for an eco-conscious designer. Each seed just like a pearl: has its unique shape, hue and texture.
Tagua fruit are gathered from the ground after a natural fall three times a year. This practice not only provides income for local communities, but also supports rainforest conservation and provides an ethical alternative to animal ivory.
Strung into a sculptural yet effortless form, this necklace is tactile, grounding, and quietly striking – a piece that speaks of nature, intention, and thoughtful design.
Composition: natural tagua seeds, leather, 18k gold plated fastening.
Custom Option: metal-free and leather-free version is available upon request — please leave a note at checkout.
To keep our practice as eco-friendly as possible, this product is sold on the pre-order basis, so please allow up to two weeks before shipping.
